The French manufacturer has put its Bugatti Chiron Super Sport on the test bench: the hypercar is actually even more powerful than expected!
With his motorbike 8.0 liter W16 Developing 1,600 hp and 1,600 Nm of torque, for a top speed of 440 km/h, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is the most powerful and fastest car in the world. It is also the model of all extremes, with a world speed record for a 2019 production model set at a whopping 490,484 km/h.
The manufacturer from Molsheim recently published a video on YouTube, where we discover its hyper-sporty tested on a power bank : To develop and optimize its vehicles, Bugatti regularly checks their power and maximum speed on a particularly powerful single-roller test bench.
Bugatti Chiron Super Sport: a test bench optimized for performance
Each wheel of the Chiron Super Sport is then placed on a large roller, making it possible to more accurately reproduce the behavior of the car in real conditions, unlike banks with two small rollers which can cause power loss or skidding. This type of test bench is particularly suitable for: extreme performance of the model:
“On the single-roll test bench, all components can be tested extensively and neutrally under real driving conditions. To do this, we simulate resistance levels identical to those on the road.explains Michael Gericke, engine developer at Bugatti: “In addition, we can repeat the tests all year round, regardless of the weather. This helps us in our constant search for technical perfection.”†

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport: tested like in real conditions
This test bench has surprising properties: a set of rollers weighs 3.5 tons and the rotating mass is 720 kg, equal to the actual weight of a vehicle. It allows the simulation of speeds ranging from up to 480 km/hwhile continuing to provide the safest braking performance, thanks to a braking power of 1,200 kW per roll!
To make it work, a four-meter-high wind tunnel brews 300,000 m³ of air per hour, to send an airflow of 230 km/h to provide the engine and exhaust system with the cooling necessary for their operation. At the rear, an exhaust system makes it possible to recover the exhaust gases and evacuate them outside, thanks to exhaust chimneys 12.5 meters high.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport: an overpowered 8.0-litre W16
The Chiron Super Sport is firmly attached to the test bench with chains and plates secured with 20 high-strength screws and is then tested by two engineers of Bugatti sitting in the cockpit: they can then accelerate the car to the speed desired by the test procedures and put the 8.0-litre W16 engine to the test.
Thus, the model was able to reach a maximum speed of 440 km/h, which made it possible to measure a power of 1,618.6 hp and 1,665.1 Nm of torque † Customers of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, who are currently taking delivery of their new jewel entirely by hand, were required to pay at least a base price of 3.2 million euros tax free, to acquire their hypercar.
