“For a Haute-Garonne on the move”, a first Sports-Health colloquium at the initiative of the Council of Departments, in the presence of Stéphane Diagana.

On Tuesday 10 May at 6 pm, Line Malric, Vice-President of the Departmental Council in charge of Sport, Sport-Health, opens the first symposium dedicated to Sport-Health “For a Haute-Garonne on the move”, organized by the community in the Pavillon République at the Hôtel du Département, in the presence of Stéphane Diagana, a great witness of this event and a dedicated actor on this theme.
According to the latest statistics from the World Health Organization, more than half of the population is still far from meeting minimum physical activity recommendations, increasing health risk factors (high blood pressure, obesity, chronic diseases, etc.).
Sport-Health now makes it possible to provide solutions to the challenges of preventing the health capital of the population, by promoting active behavior and placing physical and sporting activity as an essential factor in physical, mental and social well-being. age.
As part of its new sports policy, the department wants to encourage, through this event, the co-construction of an action program intended to offer the inhabitants of Haut-Garonne and Haut-Garonne a local “Sport-Health” offer, coherent and adapted to the requirements of users across the area, in collaboration with local players.
The first symposium “For a Haute-Garonne on the move” is sponsored by Stéphane Diagana, great witness, former professional athlete (world champion in the 400 m hurdles in 1997, European record holder in the 400 m hurdles) and bearer of a strong commitment to the field of sports -Health.
During this evening, two reflection periods will bring together different specialists and local actors:
1- “Healthy sport, a public health tool: examples and initiatives”

After this symposium, a departmental roadmap, developed with the partners, will be presented to departmental elected officials by the end of 2022, to deploy different systems across the territory by 2023.
Recognized for its commitment to promoting the practice of sport and the values of sport throughout the year, the Haute-Garonne department has obtained the “Terre de Jeux 2024” label issued by the Organizing Committee of the Paris Olympic Games 2024 in January 2020.
