Martinique fully integrated into the adventure of the Paralympic Games in Pa

Martinique’s bid was selected by the Paris 2024 Olympic Committee on Friday, April 8, 2022. Martinique embarks on the Paralympic Games adventure. This label aims to highlight good practices and encourage even more sport in everyday life, all over Martinique.

France is preparing to host the Paralympic Games for the first time in its history from August 28 to September 8, 2024. The event will bring together 4,350 athletes from the 182 delegations authorized to participate in the different events of the 22 Paralympic sports .

A “Terre de Jeux 2024” label is intended for all levels of the local authorities and the sports movement (federations, CROS-CDOS, CTOS) who, regardless of their size and resources, want to embark on the adventure of Games.

The candidacy of Martinique “Label country of games 2024” was defended last March by a delegation of the CTM and the CTOSMA. The final decision will be announced on Friday April 8, 2022 by Serge Letchimy President of the Executive Council of the CTM and Yannick Etienne-Notte, President of the Martiniquais Institute of Sport.

With this label we involve Martinique in the Olympic and Paralympic adventure. Martinicans will be able to experience the emotions of the Olympic Games. Thanks to sport, which is the vector of change in everyday life and of strengthening our collective cohesion, we have the opportunity to open new windows and opportunities for everyone.

The Paris 2024 Olympic Committee praised Martinique’s hosting capacity in terms of sports infrastructure, for high-level athletes, and its ambition to be a major player in the 2024 Olympics.

In addition to a commitment to the values ​​and ambition of Paris 2024, Martinique will continue to deploy sports-related programs.
These actions revolve around three objectives:
• Bringing emotions of sports and games to the population.
• Bringing more sport into everyday life: at school, on the street…
• Animate and grow the community of Paris 2024 on the territory.

With the status of “Terre de Jeux 2024” Martinique is on the list of potential regions to host the Olympic flame, such as Guadeloupe, Guyana and Réunion.

The main stages of determining the route of the torch relay began at the end of 2021.

In 2023, we will know the design of the Olympic Torch and the Paralympic Torch than the announcement of the route of the torch relay in April 2024.
