With great technological wealth, this electric car is a fake family. His behavior beyond suspicion will not leave his driver indifferent. Is this the best Porsche Taycan model for everyday life?
Unveiled at the end of 2021, the Sport Turismo is, to put it bluntly, the station wagon version of the Porsche Taycan. The GTS version available to us benefits from a specific chassis package, trim level and engine power. Its performance is barely below the Turbo (500 kW or 680 hp), whose name is slightly out of step due to its 100% electric powertrain.
Thanks to the 2 permanent magnet synchronous motors that provide full traction, the GTS Sport Turismo develops a maximum cumulative power of 440 kW (598 hp) with Launch Control, for a torque of 850 Nm. This architecture is powered by a battery. lithium ion with a useful energy capacity of 83.7 kWh out of a total of 93.4 kWh.
With a height of 1.39 m, this supercharged machine fits in a rectangle measuring 4.96 x 1.97 m, which will not facilitate parking in underground car parks.
A very low line
The GTS is the lowest in its class. The line is underlined by side sills and a skirt at the front, ready to skim the floor. When you see it like this, you immediately imagine the problems such a car can cause when crossing the many non-compliant speed bumps that flourish all over France.
The driver can overcome these obstacles by pressing the Lift button to the right of the display behind the steering wheel. This action is recorded by the vehicle’s software system. It will be reproduced automatically during the following passages. 2 to 3 cm higher and Allroad typed, the Cross Turismo version is more comfortable in these situations.
Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo test: the electric station wagon better than the sedan?
The face of our Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo tries to impress more with its efficiency than with an aggressive style. It includes variable intensity LED matrix headlights. It is difficult not to recognize the version: it is displayed in several places on the body. Most connoisseurs will also recognize it thanks to the signature Sport Design shield on the front and the edges of the windows, which are treated in black.
The copy of our test was presented to us in a chalk color billed 2,400 euros that highlights its 21-inch RS Spider Design rims (+2,652 euros) with low heel Pirelli (265/35). This Sport Turismo version finally shows great closeness with the Cross Turismo.
However, it got rid of the widened fenders that could have looked shocking on this model with the lowered chassis. The latter remains equipped with an air suspension, with more rigid settings. One of the original features, visible only when unsheathed, is a key that takes on the shape and color of the vehicle’s bodywork (+ 372 euros).
The bottom button controls the tailgate. Behind him, the space of 446 liters can be increased to 1,212 liters by folding the backrest into 3 parts of the bench seat. 2+1 seats in the back
By sitting in the back, the passengers housed near the doors immediately notice 2 things. First of all, the generous legroom, but also at head height thanks to the break-style body line and the panoramic glass roof (+ 1,620 euros). The latter brings a lot of clarity on board. The other good surprise is the very pleasant position on the seats with very good lateral support.
This GTS Sport Turismo version of the Porsche Taycan thus confirms its sporting vocation. On the other hand, the central place can be reserved for very occasional use. It is made unpleasant by a particularly bulky service tunnel. The backrest houses an armrest with 2 cup holders. The 5th seat belt costs 480 euros extra.
For the comfort of the main occupants, and also as an option (828 euros), 4-zone air conditioning controlled from a screen at the end of the console. Throughout the cabin, finishes and assemblies are impeccable and prestigious. The door trim is upholstered in leather, carbon fiber and carpeted storage compartments. However, the front seats obscure the view of the road for those behind them.
Alcantara: distinguishing feature of the GTS versions

Alcantara is everywhere on board the Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo. So at the level of the upholstery, but also on the dashboard, the center console and the steering wheel. With its carbon springs, the latter is specific to this version.
New Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo: the electric takes the trunk
When the Sport Chrono package comes as standard, our test car stacks up the options that will weigh heavily on the final price. Before we get there, let’s take advantage of the touchscreen for the passenger without a guilty conscience (+ 1,032 euros). It has the same functions as the central tablet for the pilot.
Without being as sophisticated as in a Tesla, the multimedia system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is functional. It houses a GPS that can work with active cruise control. Another touchscreen is located below, at the beginning of the console. It is dedicated to adjusting the sound, air conditioning and heating, as well as opening the trunk, hood and tailgates.
It can display the energy level in the battery with an estimate of the autonomy. Using the smartphone inductive charger is not very convenient. And the storage spaces, even though they are relatively numerous, are quite small in volume. Including the glove box.
As a true Porche identity, the start button is located to the left of the steering wheel. But thanks to the hands-free key, but also thanks to Comfort Access (+1,104 euros), the driver gets in and out of the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo without making the slightest manipulation to start and stop the vehicle.
Perfectly equipped, our test model has steering wheels at the rear (+ 2,352 euros). This has a positive effect on the turning circle. It thus drops from 11.7 to 11.2 m. In Range mode, which favors autonomy, the controls seem very soft. The GTS is sensible, with an electronically limited speed of 100 km/h. The latter is increased to 150 km/h when passing on the highway.
However, the solidity of the chassis reminds the occupants of the sporty origins of the electric station wagon. The 360-degree camera system (+1,428 euros) is especially sensitive. He can quickly enter the cab with beeps if he feels the vehicle is a little too cramped for his environment.
Operated from the central touchscreen, but also by means of a button on the steering wheel, the energy recovery device is not the most powerful. It is roughly comparable to the engine brake of a thermal car, that’s all. As a result, the vehicle cannot be stopped without depressing the brake pedal. Fans of regeneration paddles on the handlebars may be disappointed.

She sticks to the winding roads
Foot on the ground, the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo clearly shows its dynamic claims. The sound environment even makes it possible to notice a change in speed. This electric car is actually equipped with a 2-speed gearbox. The steering precision is remarkable. In Sport Plus mode, the vehicle jumps on the bumps of the road, even if the damping remains effective.
The racing car’s 2,310 kg does not prevent it from going from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. We can reach 200 km/h in just 12 seconds. With its 6 pistons on the front and 4 rear calipers, the braking system is impressively efficient.
† There we have the best brakes on the market! We take G’s when accelerating and when braking. The other strength of the Porsche is that it can repeat the same gears multiple times. It deflates more slowly than a Tesla Model S, it is less likely to overheat. The same goes for the endurance of the brakes ’ protested the man in the cap.
† This Porsche is undoubtedly the most enjoyable electric car to drive. But I would rather opt for a Cross Turismo version which will certainly be a little less rigid, a little less reactive, but much more practical in everyday use and also a little more comfortable. he compares.
High fuel consumption affects performance
With a bill of 3,096 euros, the InnoDrive system is the most advanced development of active cruise control. Also offered on the Audi e-tron GT, it works in tandem with the cameras and navigation system. However, our tester prefers the device on board the BMW iX.
Spinning at high speed on the highway, the soundproofing of the Porsche Taycan station wagon at our disposal is exceptional, if you shut your ears to the rolling noise of the sporty 21-inch tires. Well streamlined and very low cuts the body through the air.
Porsche 911 electric: it’s coming!
In this context, consumption usually fluctuates between 27 and 30 kWh/100 km. Autonomy, curling failure, is then between 280 and 300 km.
